1. Review the rubric(s) associated to the assignment. o Choose one local community for the entire duration of the assignment and discuss the issues, positive or negative, that affect the overall health of the individuals living within that community. A total of two submissions will be made on your chosen community with each submission identifying a separate health issue of the community. Some suggested issues include: substance abuse, rural health, immigrant issues, mental health, seniors’ health, aboriginal health, sexually transmitted infections, suicide, student health, adolescent pregnancy, overweight and obesity, homelessness, bullying, injury and violence, and stress.
2. Provide a depiction of each health issue by one of the following methods: o Capture an original photograph of the scene that accurately depicts the issue.
Use a stock photo that accurately depicts the issue.
Submit a media article from the community that describes the issue
With respect to original photographs, comply with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act; by blurring identifiers such as faces and license plate numbers.
3. Describe the photograph/picture/article as it relates to the issue. Consider the following thoughts for your submissions: o What is the issue? Why is it an issue? Clearly state and describe the issue.

4. Critically analyze the underlying premises of the Determinants of Health and how they directly relate to the community health issue. Ensure you examine population health (health outcomes). Consider the following thoughts for your submissions: o Why did you choose the determinant of health? How does it relate to your chosen community issue?
