Task 1: Propose a compensation strategy for Northern Software.
CASE: Northern Software
Software engineers directly affect the success of many start-up companies. Suppose that a group of investors is about to create a new start-up, a specialty software company based in Fort McMurray, Alberta. These investors have hired you to help them determine the marketing manager’s pay. What would you advise? You will need to get some information on Fort McMurray and on the specialty software industry. Consider the information from the text in Chapter 7 Exhibits 7.1, 7.2, and 7.11 in making your recommendation. Exhibits posted on eCentennial.
Task 2: Northern Software Questions
1. What policy regarding external competitiveness would you advise? List the options and the pros and cons of each policy option. Offer the rationale for your recommendation.
2. What forms of pay would you recommend? Again, offer your rationale.
3. Consider the theories and research presented from the text in Chapter 7. Identify and discuss which ones you used to support your recommendation.
