A portfolio contains a purposefully selected set of representations of your best work, experience, strengths, abilities and skills.
The portfolio will be submitted using the Durham College e-portfolio template via DC Connect (you will supply your Professor and potential employers if you wish, with a link to your e-portfolio site).
To develop your portfolio, follow the instructions outlined in the document posted on DC Connected called “OneNote Access & ePortfolio Development & Submission.” This will walk you through each step of developing & submitting your e-Portfolio.
Once you have completed these steps, please ensure you submit the link to your ePortfolio, as well as one Microsoft Word document containing your written work to DC Connect prior to the due date/time!
Purpose
To prepare a sample of your best work for employment purposes and also to help you organize your work and thoughts for the job search. It will also allow the student to consider and reflect on the Essential Employability Skills
What to include in the portfolio?
1.Introduction
oThis is where you put your own personalized introduction to your Portfolio; this should be a brief professional presentation of yourself. You may wish to highlight your program, and/or key goals or skills or accomplishments. You may wish to include a quick reference to your personal contact information here. This should be your first page of your Portfolio.
2. Nursing Philosophy
oThis should be a well crafted personal & meaningful reflection of your core beliefs about nursing. Please include a definition of your two key (core) nursing values (ex. altruism, compassion, human dignity, patient education), a description of why these are included in your philosophy and examples of how you practice your beliefs.
