At this time, the application is in the midst of request for proposal planning (RFP) and your team has been asked to provide the rational and reasoning for asking vendors to adhere to particular standard(s).
 
Your task is to create a business plan (as outlined below) in the justification of selecting the particular standards that would be included as part of the RFP in order to allow data to be shared within the hospital and other Cancer Hospitals within Ontario.
 
Some assumptions:
?EPIC utilizes SNOMED-CT and a mix of other common terminology and HL7 as its core standards
?Other Cancer Hospitals are currently utilizing some version of HL7v2 as its core messaging standard
 
Instructions to write the standards implementation proposal
1.Working within your assigned teams, create a business plan in the justification of the proposed standard to be included in the request for proposal in an application specialized in cancer management
2.In the business plan, you should include at least the following sections outlined in additional deal in the Structure Section:
 
Structure:
1.      Background/ Business Need: State the background of this assignment (i.e. the context above) and the business requirements. Note: assume your audience for this document is Senior Leadership within the hospital
2.      Approach/ Methodology: What approach (frameworks) was used in coming up with the proposed standards and how did you come to this conclusion.
3.      Recommendations: What are the recommended standards – how did you come to this? Were any frameworks or guides used?
4.      Rational for Recommendation: What are the rationales for the agreed upon recommended standards
5.      Benefits/ Risks: Identify the benefits and risks associated to your choice of standards. Identify any implications this may also have.
6.      Conclusion: Summary of business plan proposal
