Open the file IL_EX19_4a_FirstLastName_1.xlsx, available for download from the SAM website.
Save the file as IL_EX19_4a_FirstLastName_2.xlsx by changing the “1” to a “2”.
If you do not see the .xlsx file extension in the Save As dialog box, do not type it. The program will add the file extension for you automatically.
With the file IL_EX19_4a_FirstLastName_2.xlsx still open, ensure that your first and last name is displayed in cell B6 of the Documentation sheet.
If cell B6 does not display your name, delete the file and download a new copy from the SAM website.
PROJECT STEPS
1.Luis Aguilar is the manager of two branch offices for the Capshaw Consulting Group in Houston, Texas. He has been tracking their sales revenue and expenses in an Excel workbook, which includes charts to help him visualize the data. He has asked you to help him format the charts.

Go to the Jan to Apr Revenue worksheet. The January to April Revenue stacked column chart shows the combined sales revenue the branch offices made in the first four months of 2021.

Format the chart title as follows to draw attention to it:
Change the border color of the chart title to Blue, Accent 6 (10th column, 1st row of the Theme Colors palette).
Apply the Offset: Center shadow effect from the Outer group of the Shadow gallery.
2.Make the chart values easier to interpret as follows:
Remove the Primary Major Vertical gridlines.
Add Primary Major Horizontal gridlines to the chart.
3.Clarify the purpose of the horizontal axis as follows:
Add a primary horizontal axis title to the chart.
Enter the text Months as the title of the primary horizontal axis.
Change the font of the primary horizontal axis title to Tahoma.
Change the font size to 14 point.
4.Go to the Categorized Expenses worksheet. The 2-D pie chart on this worksheet shows how each type of expense affected the total budget from January to April. Apply the Style 5 chart style to the 2-D pie chart to match the appearance of the other charts in the workbook.
5.Move the chart legend to the Right position to provide more room for the data.

Explode the largest slice of the pie (representing employee salaries) by 7%.
7.Go to the Profit Analysis worksheet. The clustered column chart in this worksheet shows how the branch office expenses have changed over four months. Resize and reposition the clustered column chart so that its upper-left corner is within cell H2, and its lower-right corner is within cell S21.
8.Identify the purpose of the clustered column chart by entering January to April Expenses by Category as the chart title.
9.Change the chart colors to Monochromatic Palette 2 to coordinate with the other colors in the worksheet.
10.Change the fill color of the data series representing April to Aqua, Accent 2 (6th column, 1st row of the Theme Colors palette) to highlight the data series.
11.Apply the Currency number format to the range B13:F21 and decrease the number of decimal places shown to zero to change the format of the values in the vertical axis of the clustered column chart.
12.Luis wants to create a chart showing the monthly profits for the two branch offices to determine which months have been more favorable. Create a new chart as follows:
Create a doughnut chart based on the range B25:E26. (Hint: A doughnut chart is a type of pie chart.)
Enter January to April Profit as the chart title.
Resize and reposition the chart so that its upper-left corner is within cell H22 and its lower-right corner is within cell N35.
