Your group will complete a facilities and process design analysis of a local company / store / retail outlet. You will be required to
1) find a local company to analyze – all companies must be unique, NO DUPLICATES. Your instructor will have a sign-up sheet to prevent duplication,
a. There is a permission form to be filled out by the manager of the company you choose to study. This form must be submitted with the report.
2) create a scale floor plan of the organization’s entire facility,
3) determine the type of process, production/inventory strategy, and type of technology used,
4) determine the service process design, create a service blueprint and a swim lane diagram,
5) state at least TWO pros and TWO cons to the existing facility operation, and
6) recommend ONE solution to the organization, including specific steps to completion.
7) complete a contract, time log and a peer assessment for each team member. See Moodle for templates.
8) Create a short (5 min.) presentation of your findings.
