Assignment Instructions Use a report format to propose a small business venture. Consider exactly what product you will sell or what service you will provide. Consider your competition as well as the legalities, tariffs, taxes, and trends that may affect the business. Your proposal should contain enough information to convince the target audience to approve your venture. Balance argumentative and informative rhetorical strategies. Use academic research guidelines when sourcing and citing supporting evidence. Answering the following questions may be helpful to get you started: What is your business idea? Why is it necessary? Who needs the products or the service? Who are the competition? What legalities, tariffs, taxes, or trends have to be considered? Why should your business idea be approved? You must gain approval from me as to what small business venture you will propose. For more information on how to write a proposal, consult English 113 Week 8: Proposals. Submitting the Assignment The final version of your essay will be submitted as an electronic copy (in MS Word file format) uploaded to Moodle by July 19 at midnight. Please name your file with "your full name (as it appears on Moodle) English 113 Proposal". Leave out the part in parentheses ( ). Failure to submit on time will result in late penalties (see course outline for more details). Grading Your assignment will be marked on the following elements: Each sentence must express a well-articulated thought and be correct. Your proposal must be clear and easy to follow. Logical organization and flow. Efficient language (spelling, punctuation, grammar, clarity and accessibility). Proper MLA or APA formatting (see below). Choose one. It must be double spaced (there should be no extra spaces between paragraphs). Your page layout must contain 1-inch (2.54 cm) wide margins. You must include page numbers with your last name in a header at the top of each page. You must include a unique title that reflects the topic assignment. In the top left corner of the first page, you must include your full name, the course, your instructor’s name and the date.
