IDSB04 Introduction to International and Global Health

The purpose of the reading reflections is to encourage thoughtful engagement with the assigned readings and to reflect on how they have shaped your thinking on key topics and themes in global health. The reflections will allow you to demonstrate knowledge of the readings’ main concepts and themes and make connections to previous knowledge gained through prior coursework or other experiences.

1. What are the main points of the reading? (Focus on the overarching themes and concepts)
2. How does the reading reinforce or challenge your previous assumptions about the underlying causes of health and illness?
3. How does the reading connect to other issues or topics you have been exposed to outside of this course? (Can discuss a recent news story, learning from other courses, etc.). Note: ensure you explain the connection between any examples you provide and the assigned reading
4. Did the reading leave you with any questions? Is there anything that is unclear or confusing?

Reflections should be approximately 2 pages, double-spaced (500-600 words), in 12-point font with 1-inch margins, and use a standard and consistent referencing style (e.g., APA, MLA, etc.). No extra research is required. Please organize your reflection using appropriate headings and sub-headings. Recommended space allocations for each section of the reflection are suggested below in brackets. The entire reflection should not surpass 2 pages.
