PSK4U Introductory Kinesiology

Objectives:
1. To encourage broad reading in a special interest, in accordance with a teacher designed thesis.
2. To encourage initiative and discipline in educational pursuits
3. To further develop your research skills and note making, reporting, design and delivery of a research essay

 

Essay:
1. Initial proposal- statement of preliminary thesis, expected bibliography and questions you may consider in the thesis (10%)
2. Thesis statement/Rough Notes and Annotated Bibliographya) Thesis statement- a final statement of exactly what you are intending to prove in your thesis with a detailed graphic organizer (10%) of the what the essay will look like
b) Rough notes-point form hand written notes divided into the various arguments derived from your research that may be used in the final essay (10%)
c) Annotated Bibliography- a complete list of your sources of research, including a short synopsis of the intended use of the source (content or quotation). An annotated bibliography also includes a brief outline of the content in the source and how it will help your thesis (10%)
3. Final Essay- a polished essay of an appropriate length (minimum 5 pages) to cover the topic, complete with footnotes or endnotes and a bibliography. Essay must be submitted online (60%).

 

Important Information
Proper research and essay writing techniques must be used. It is expected that each student will write their essay succinctly in their own words. Proper APA formatting must be used. A late penalty of 10% per day will be in effect for the assignment agreed upon due date. No late essays
will be accepted unless an extension has been granted.
