As students are aware COVID-19 has resulted in moving the traditional invigilated exam from physical space to online. You will be familiar with this format as you are now deferred/referred in the exam. As before, we are now using an online assessment for 7COM1024 MMSE in the form of an open-book exam using the assignment facility in Canvas. Students, may be anxious about this change, to help to alleviate any such anxieties I will offer some pointers and guidance in this document. This follows announcements posted on Canvas and responses to emails intended toprovide students with pre-information related to the arrangements for the assessment and preparation for the assessment.
The open book referred/deferred exam will take place on 17th June 2021 and will be available on Canvas on this date.
I suggest you keep this document open and refer to it when completing the online timed test to ensure you are doing so correctly and following the submission requirements. Assessment (Open Book Exam) Pre-Information:
questions/sub questions in the space provided on the exam paper the exam is for TWO hours with 30 minutes preparation time and the questions are shorter. Note the 30 minutes additional time is not intended toprovide more time to complete the exam it is to be used for ensuring that you are set up to complete the exam and submit in good time. Remember late work will not be accepted and will gain 0 marks.
The requirements for submission are as follows:
o Submit the completed paper (the original word file with answers in the spaces provided) on Canvas using the assignment facility within the 150 minutes restricted time limit.
o The file submitted via Canvas must be in the form of a Microsoft Word document.
o The filename is to include: student id, followed by a hyphen, followed by MMSE-Exam, for example 0123456-MMSE-Exam. I strongly recommend that as soon as you open the exam paper that yourename the file as described and insert your answers into the spaces provided under each question. Ensure to save the file periodically.
o The text should be in a consistent font, either 11 or 12-point Times New Roman or Arial.
o Students’ registration number should appear at the bottom of each page along with the page number. The exam paper already contains page numbers please do not remove these.
o In your own words write your answers to TWO questions from Section A and then TWO questions from Section B. All answers must be completed under each question/sub question in the space provided on the exam paper.
o When using formula or diagrams you may write these out on paper, take a photograph and paste in a readable format in the space provided under the question/sub question or you can do this withinWord or use another package such as paint and take a screen shot, what is important is that your answer is readable and under the question asked.
o No additional paperwork and/or emails will be accepted. ONE Word document submitted following the requirements for submission as noted above must be submitted via Canvas only.
