Individual Reflective Report: Employability, Live Project Reflection, and Personal Development Plan

Part 1: The concept of employability

The assessment requires you to produce an individual reflective report with evidence that will achieve 3 objectives: 1) Demonstrate a critical understanding of the concept of employability 2) Reflect on your experience of working as a team on the ASPIRE 2 Live Project or another business challenge and consider its relevance to your personal and professional development (PLEASE SEE BRIGHTSPACE WEEK 1 FOR DETAILS OF THE LIVE PROJECT) 3) Demonstrate an understanding of different approaches to career management and produce an updated personal development plan. In this report you will need to demonstrate knowledge of relevant theories and models and show that you can apply them to your personal experience. You will reflect critically on your experience of working in a team on an ASPIRE 2 Live Project or another business challenge. You will use these reflections to help you update your personal development plan. This report is worth 100% of the final module mark. The Appendices are not included in the word count. Task specific guidance: Your report should address the following requirements: Part 1: The concept of employability (approx 400-500 words) Critically discuss your understanding of the concept of employability and its relevance within a contemporary global labour market. You may want to: • Discuss ‘employability’ from different perspectives • Demonstrate a critical understanding of a model of employability • Use labour market data to support your discussion Part 2: Your Live Project / business challenge Reflection (approx 1200-1400 words) Write a reflection about your experience of delivering your live project or a business challenge. This should • Clearly outline in 2-3 sentences your Project objectives • Explain and evaluate your approach to using information sources, including relevant theories and models, to understand the business context of your Project • Critically reflect on the techniques and skills that you and your team used to manage and deliver the project. a) Consider how team roles were allocated and enacted during the project b) Discuss how you gave and received feedback on your team and what you have learnt from this c) Demonstrate that you understand, and can apply, relevant theories and models about teamwork, roles, intercultural effectiveness and group dynamics. • Evaluate how well you communicated with your live project client or other stakeholders. You could consider: a) How well your team used email or other channels to ask relevant questions during the project b) How well your team communicated complex information in your final presentation and what you learnt from the feedback you received c) If and how you communicated with your client at the end of the project (including in the feedback session) Part 3 Career management and your personal development (approx. 400-500 words) • Demonstrate a critical understanding of different approaches to career management • Based on your discussion in parts 1 and 2, discuss how you could develop your employability over the next year • Create a personal development plan for the next 12-18 months that will enable you to develop your employability (personal development plan not included in the word count). You should include in your Appendices any evidence that supports the content of your report. For example, evidence of communication within your project team, feedback from your client etc. You will also be expected to upload the work that you prepared for your client for your Project. This report is worth 100% of the final module mark. The Personal Development Plan and Appendices are not included in the word count.
