K240 Mental Health and Community
Question:
Using at least two aspects of the SEEP model, discuss how common mental health conditions, such as depression or anxiety, are affected by factors that are external to the individual. knowledge of different approaches to the understanding of mental health problems.
The process word in this essay is ‘discuss’. This means to explain an issue, presenting two sides and expanding on any implications. More information on process words can be found in the Help Centre’s guidance on preparing assignments.
In this TMA, you will need to demonstrate how aspects of the SEEP model can be used to illustrate that internal or biological factors alone cannot explain mental health problems.
You will need to discuss how two (or more) elements of the SEEP model can help explain the causes of an individual’s mental health problems beyond biological factors alone. To do this, you should define each element you choose and then discuss how each one might help explain why an individual could have mental health problems. You may wish to draw on the case study examples provided in the module materials. Your conclusion should summarise your main points in a way that directly relates to the TMA question.
