The world is in a state of climate emergency. In order to limit global temperature rise to less than 1.5°C, it is essential to control carbon emissions. The building sector is highly energy intensive and is responsible for 39% of the global carbon emissions. Decarbonizing this sector can help tackle climate change by considerably reducing the carbon emissions. Based on the outcomes of COP21 and the Climate Change Act 2019, the World Green Building Council set out the Net-Zero Carbon Buildings Commitment where the construction sector is required toachieve net zero embodied and operational carbon by 2050. One of the major topics of discussion at the upcoming COP26 is the progress of countries in reducing their carbon emissions.Coursework Outline/Scenario COP26 focuses on four broad areas with one area being reducing carbon emissions and securing global net-zero targets by mid-century. Addressing carbon reductions in the construction sector offers attractive opportunities to achieve net-zero targets. Following the discussions at COP26 several regulatory changes are expected to be issued that would focus on achieving net-zero. In this assignment you are required to address a potential outcome of COP26 related to new buildings construction and refurbishment project.Looking at current practices, you will suggest potential regulations to cut Carbon emission from land use, procurement, construction, embodied carbon, reusing existing buildings, operational carbon...etc.Your argument will be based on current regulation with an analysis of their potential failure to address the CO2 reduction and how your suggestions could overcome the challenge
