THE BRIEF/INSTRUCTIONS Learning Outcomes Assessed: LO1 Critically evaluate the roles, characteristics, and impact of team members in the development of a project team LO3 Exercise effective personal management skills in relation to the Project Leader 's function LO4 Reflect upon their learning, performance and achievements, and to develop action plans Assignment Brief This module provides the opportunity for students to evaluate the role of the Project Manager regarding human aspects of project management, including team skills and leadership. The requisite attributes and skills for the professional Project Manager will be developed to ensure the effectiveness of individuals and the project team as a whole. You are required to provide the following pieces of assessment based upon your latest team participation experiences at work or in your studies (e.g. group assignments) and your perception of your development in terms of skills learning for improved work performance. Element 1: Work Application of Leadership & Teamwork Theories (Maximum word count: 2000) a. Discuss leadership styles in organisations and critically evaluate your experience of these styles in any group or team you have participated in. (50 marks) b. “The effectiveness of teams is a critical determinant of organisational performance”. Critically evaluate the concepts of team formation, team roles, teamwork and the importance of synergy in project management. Highlight the roles you have played in teams in your latest teamwork experiences. (50 Marks) Element 2: Reflective Learning Log and Action Plan Based Upon Your team/group experiences (Maximum word count: 2000) a. Using Appendix 1, provide a self-assessment of your project management skills.
