Project Proposal: Overview, Objectives & Constraints

Overview of the Project

Overview of the Project

Provide a couple of paragraphs that outline the main reasons for undertaking the project. What is the project all about? Give a little background to the issue or problem which you are addressing, why you have chosen this project.

This is where you make it clear what you will be doing as well as what you will not be doing.  What are the boundaries?

On successful completion of this module you will be able to:
1. Critically evaluate the relevant methods to be applied for developing a project in this area.
2. Develop a project proposal, collect the data and present the findings in an appropriate manner.
3. Critically analyse, interpret and evaluate the situational analysis factors influencing the project.
4. Develop strategic and tactical Digital Marketing solutions for complex organisational marketing challenges
5. Evaluate monitoring and evaluation techniques to indicate the effects and impact of Digital Marketing in relation to strategic objectives.

Define three or even four measurable objectives which define your project and against which your project can be tested. This is very important. You must clearly and specifically state what the project objectives are, perhaps using bullet points for emphasis. Your success will be judged against these.

Here is an example of a set of objectives:

The objectives of this project are to:

1.Research the area of … and to make recommendations for the implementation phase of the marketing campaign prior to September 2021

2.Design, implement a marketing campaign including:

3.Provide an evaluation of… processes prior to implementation companywide in June 2021

4.Produce…. which will… by 1st September 2021 and to be completed by 31st December 2021

Constraints

If there are any constraints imposed on the project you must identify them. These are normally constraints imposed by the sponsor, such as the target hardware or the operating system. Time and lack of knowledge are not constraints, nor is the availability of key personnel!  You must plan to work around these issues.

Legal, Ethical and Professional Issues

List any legal, ethical and professional issues raised in the project.  These might be:

Legal – For example, personal data that will be accessed or stored.

Ethical – For example, are there any human subjects to be used in research?

Professional – For example, here is a need to make clear to the organisation the extent of your expertise.

Although the final project (Assignment 2) is primarily the students work and responsibility, each student will have access to a tutor/supervisor who will guide each student during the course of the module. Once the project objectives/proposal (Assignment 1) has been approved by the tutor/supervisor by mid-February 2021, your tutor/supervisor will be able to offer advice and guidance. Your primary responsibility is to work in a diligent and time effective manner, within your chosen business and to remain in contact with your tutor up to the Assignment 2 final report submission date of Friday 30th July 2021. Students are responsible for seeking support from tutors. This is done via ad hoc supervisory/tutor meetings; however, students must prepare beforehand in order to ensure effective supervision. Supervisory meetings maybe conducted via MS Teams, Telephone or UCLan e-mail and they may be individual meetings or small group meetings.

Supervisor/Tutor Responsibilities:

- To provide guidance about the nature of the project – this will be one of the main elements of the taught content

- Give guidance on literature search techniques and necessary reading – again, this will be one of the main elements of the taught content

- Advising on refinement of the project scope

- Provide feedback for proof-read, word-processed drafts of project chapters

- No more than one draft per chapter

- To provide constructive feedback

Student Responsibilities:

- Agree with the supervisor/tutor the best method for meetings and feedback

- Take the initiative, raise questions and discuss problems in a timely manner

- Inform the supervisor/tutor of any tangible changes you are considering to the essence of the project

- Effectively plan for meetings and ensure appointments are kept – informing the supervisor/tutor in a timely manner whenever this is not possible

- Maintain a record of your development

- Meeting the final deadline as stated in the Module Information Pack

Students are required to keep written records of the following elements, which are likely to be collected at various points throughout the project:

a) Records of literature utilised, results obtained – this links to your bibliography

b) Records of individuals contacted in connection with the project

a. Records of documents shared

c) All research data collected must be kept

a. Copies of all letters/emails/information sheets sent out

b. All completed consent forms

c. All surveys, questionnaires

d. All recording and transcripts of interviews

e. Any other relevant documentation, data or analysis undertaken in connection with the project
