(2) Critically evaluate different research strategies, methodologies and approaches in relation to a chosen research objective.
Taking your chosen research topic/industry:
- Develop a search strategy to find literature relevant in this area of interest.
- Critical review of the literature found.
In 1,000 words (plus/minus 10%), write a report of the critical review of the literature to include:
- The topic of your research. It should provide some background to the intended research and should provide a critical analysis of the existing knowledge in the area. As such the literature review should set the context of your intended research topic and to support the formulationof your research question(s)/objectives.
- Outline the search strategy used in identifying the literature read.
The module learning outcomes assessed:
- Critically evaluate different research strategies, methodologies and approaches in relation to a chosen research objective.
- Uphold the highest of ethical standards in the conduct of research
- Demonstrate ability to plan a structured research project and to improve the plan based on critical feedback.
- Appreciate the wider impact of research and interest to relevant stakeholders.
Proposal Instructions:
In 1,500 words (plus/minus 10%), write a Research Proposal to include:
- The critical Literature Review done for Assessment 1 must be summarised and used to establish the rationale and context for your research so that you can pose your research question when drafting your proposal
- The Literature Review section for the proposal must not be more than 200-250 words
- The proposal to be written under the following headings:
- Title
- Introduction and background to the research
- Research questions/Aims and Objectives/Hypothesis
- Summary of the literature review
- Justification for methodology and data collection
- Time plan
- Bibliography

A professional profile is a brief summary of your skills. Strengths and key experiences. It should convey what you are seeking or what you have to offer the person reading it. In brief, it is an organised collection of relevant information that showcases your knowledge and skills and chartsyour professional progress. It helps you to determine who you are, what your goals are, and how you wish to present yourself to a targeted audience. It is also a valuable tool to assess Professional development and to track Professional growth.
In 500 words (plus/minus 10%), write a Professional Profile to include:
- Your Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats in relation to your professional skills.
- Your goals which will help to achieve both your degree and some of the skills you need to enhance your research skills
- How you will achieve this learning outcome “Appreciate the wider impact of research and interest to relevant stakeholders”.
