Question 1:
Discuss the relationship between economic progress and Aboriginal self-government.  What are the three key elements in the relationship?

Question 2:
Define accountability.  Discuss the importance of accountability as a measure of Aboriginal self-government.

Question 3:
Identify the five major national Aboriginal political organizations.  Identify two significant contributions each organization has made to the Aboriginal political agenda since 1990.

Question 4:
Discuss the connection between the Indian Agent system and the current state of the majority of First Nations.

Question 5:
Discuss the significance of two of the following court decisions:

• Sparrow
• Van der Peet
• Powley

Question 6:
Discuss the importance of the Aboriginal Healing Foundation as the forerunner to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.  How did the Foundation contribute to the creation of the Commission?

Question 7:
Identify three types of innovative economic initiatives that Aboriginal communities are pursuing.  Are these examples that other Aboriginal communities should be pursuing or not?

Question 8:
What evidence supports the emergence of an Aboriginal middle-class in Canada?  Will the emergence and growth of this class help or hinder the resolution of long-standing socio-economic challenges faced by Aboriginal people?
