Identifying an Oral Health Issue and Formulating a PICO Question

Identify an oral health issue and formulate a PICO question relevant to the dental hygiene practice. This should be a topic that is grounded in Periodontics. Summarize the information and concepts of the oral health issue and compare them to the current thinking. Using databases discussed in class (PUBMED, Cochrane Library) for retrieval of information, access the literature relevant to support your question. This would constitute a literature review. Examine the strengths and the limitations of the literature reviewed through the relevance of the results from each study. Three (3) sources must be used to support your PICO question (2 research papers/articles & 3rd source can be a textbook or a reputable online source). Analyze the literature and ground your position specific to the issue within the literature. Textbooks included within the Dental Hygiene Program can be used to reference and support your research paper. Examine the strengths and the limitations of the literature reviewed. Identify the types of data obtained and the type of statistical tests carried out. Describe the implementation of the outcomes in the dental hygiene practice. Your summarization should not be longer than 1500 words, or less than 1200 words. A conclusion stating your findings must follow your summarization and your conclusion must include a textbook reference
