This Assignment is designed to have you use some of the knowledge you have gained this semester and solve the following scenarios. For both scenarios consider that you are the in-charge. You are operating a flight from Toronto to Cancun and back to Toronto. It is mid-December in Toronto and the Captain has advised the crew that they will be de-icing prior to take-off. During the de-icing process some passengers complain that they are feeling ill and you can smell a strange odour in the cabin accompanied by a light haze in the air. What do you think has occurred and what steps would you take? Eventually the flight departs Toronto for Cancun. On arrival in Cancun the aircraft has been deplaned and you are preparing for boarding the aircraft to return to Toronto. The Captain has told you that fueling will begin shortly and that she is stepping off the aircraft to get a coffee and the First Officer is at the top of the gate where he can get a stronger Wi-Fi signal to check the Olympic highlights. While both Pilots are away the passengers begin boarding the aircraft. When there are approximately 40 passengers on board, a passenger seated behind the wing is pointing out the window and you notice a very strong smell of jet fuel in the cabin. What do you think is happening? What steps would you take?
