Project 1 is to be completed at the end of Unit 1. It constitutes 25% of your final grade. This project consists of five parts.
Knowledge of basic web development techniques is a prerequisite for this course; however, if you are in need of additional guidance or practice in creating simple web pages using HTML, we recommend that you complete the following HTML tutorials: Tutorial 1 and Tutorial 2.
Complete Chapter 1 Activities 1-6 and 1-7 on pages 49 and 50 of the textbook. You are encouraged to locate additional sites listing support personnel position descriptions in addition to, or instead of, those listed in the textbook. Present your results and analysis as follows:
A. a one- or two-page written report listing the position descriptions found as well as the source, position title, key duties, and qualifications for each position described. Your report should also highlight significant similarities and differences among the positions listed and should describe at least four different position listings. Include your name and student ID number, and title your report âCMIS 311 Project 1 Part 1(A).â
B. a simple website presenting a support position description of your own creation. The site should consist of two pages: a main page displaying the assignment titleâCMIS 311 Project 1, Part 1(B)âyour name and student ID number, and a second (linked) page containing the position description. Some basic design features should be applied, including a non-default background colour or image, a static image which is relevant to the content (displayed on the main page), and some use of various heading or text sizes, colours, and fonts. Submit as a zip file named âCMIS 311 Project 1 Part 1(B).â
Complete the research activity as directed in Chapter 2 Case Project 2 on page 100 of the textbook, and present your summary in the form of a PPT presentation titled âCMIS 311 Project 1 Part 2.â
Your presentation should include, at a minimum, 10 slides: introduction, two slides for each of the four main MBTI personality dimensions, and a concluding slide.
The first slide dealing with each personality dimension should briefly list the characteristics of that dimension, and the second slide should list the strengths and weaknesses of the personality dimension in the context of User Support work.Â
The introductory slide for the presentation should display your name and student ID number, as well as the assignment title âCMIS 311 Project 1 Part 2.â
The concluding slide in your presentation should include a statement summarizing the importance of understanding oneâs own personality type in the context of User Support. It should also provide links to MBTI or other personality testing sites you may find in your research.
Complete Chapter 3 Case Project 1 on pages 144 and 145 of the textbook, and present your results as an illustrated Word document.
Name your file âCMIS 311 Project 1 Part 3.â
Complete Chapter 4 Activities 4-3 and 4-6 on pages 189 and 190 of the textbook, and present your results as Word documents.
