Writing a Personal Statement for FASD

Background Information

The personal statement is an opportunity for you to further explore how your own experiences, beliefs and attitudes might impact your approach to individuals with FASD. This statement will also offer you an opportunity to see how you have learned and expanded your perspective over the duration of the course.

a. A short introduction about you, including any previous personal or professional experience with FASD and the reasons you are taking this certificate.
b. description current beliefs, attitudes and assumptions about FASD and alcohol use, with a reflection on how these may impact your learning or work in the field.

2. This personal statement is drawn directly from your lived experience you are not required to reference readings from the course; however, should you choose to tie in any materials (readings from the course or other materials you have read on your own), you must cite and reference these materials as you would in any academic work.
