LAWS 1002 Criminal Law

This assignment requires you to locate, read and summarize a judgement of the Federal Court of Canada. The case which is the focus of the assignment is Twins v. Canada (Attorney-General) 2016 FC 537; you will need to go to the Federal Court of Canada website, locate the decision, read  and  summarize it using the ‘Case Summary Template’ posted on CULearn.

Be sure to read the entire case carefully, do not rely on the headnotes and ensure your summary adheres to the Case Summary Template. Because a case summary is really a study tool, the summary you will compile for this assignment should be no longer than 2 single-spaced pages. Your summary will be assessed out of 20 marks for correctness, comprehensiveness, clarity and, of course, the absence of spelling and grammatical errors.

Your summary is due August 7, 2020 by 6:00 p.m. and must be submitted electronically via CULearn in advance of this deadline. Please note that papers submitted in any other manner will not be accepted for grading or credit. Please consult the course outline for information on accommodations and late submissions.
