Recognizing the Significance of Second Chances: A Critical Analysis

Response Segment 1

The need for people to recognize and understand the significance of second chances is the focus of this essay considering most do not get it till it is too late. The Main source that is critically analysed in this paper is based on the article about a girl called Simla who suffered from brain haemorrhages, underwent two operations that were life-saving as well as losing memory of two months. With the experience with death, gave her an eye-opening experience of her getting involved and helping people in terms of identifying the crisis that is present all over the world based on education (DanFlyingSolo, 2016). The purpose it has been observed in this analysis is that an individual’s life is more than what they want to see and travel around the world and materialistic requirements. The essay fulfils the purpose of understanding I need to help other people in crisis and perform an action that satisfies the soul and the heart.

Being truthful to oneself and one’s actions is the first step towards understanding the significance of the life that has been given by God and the way it can be used to help other people instead of just using it to fulfil your all-materialistic requirements. “Through my travels, I built loving connections…” showed the passion Simla had in helping others by volunteering in so many countries around the world such as India, Fiji, New Zealand and others (DanFlyingSolo, 2016). Individuals with bucket list has often been identified as people trying to see the best locations, experience all the best scenarios, food and conditions in life. This term bucket list was first identified in the Morgan Freeman firm in 2007 called “The Bucket List” and it became popular as people started using it more and more in their vocabulary (Thomas, 2011). Though the term has primarily been used in computer programming, national labour relations context and others however, it was the film that made it popular. This term can be identified as a means where an individual can be true to themselves and perform actions that not only satisfy their bucket list but also helps in their crisis. According to Tóth, B. K., Raffai, G., & Bojtár (2005), the human brain works in mysterious ways and the way the mechanical parameters of the brain get damaged due to brain aneurysm has often led to analysis of the way the individuals start thinking once the experience the same. It is therefore significant to identify the actions and their consequences from the perspective of the individual who has suffered a near death experience and the way they want to bring change in the society.

Response Segment 2 - Second claim critiquing the main source

Being born lucky often makes people value less and act inconsequentially. Individuals in this world have received materialistic requirements, guidance in the form of parents, employment and academic achievement based on their background and others leading to them not appreciating everything that they have in life. According to Schwartz (2012) “whatever else each of us derives from our work…” appreciation is significant in terms of growth, development and recognition which leads to well-being of the individual, physically and mentally. Accomplishing any event, buying materialistic object, identifying the goals and aims of one life in terms of academic, personal and professional achievement are all important when they are appreciated. This can be clearly understood by the case of Simla and the way her perspective in life changed once she experienced life threatening situations. “When travel bloggers and digital nomads…”Simla is suffering and she is 25 years old and before she had this near-death experience she had a bucket list of travel in the world, having a wardrobe filled with shoes or clothes, shopping trip in Singapore, lavish weddings and others (DanFlyingSolo, 2016). This reflects that an individual’s dream can changed based on the situation they are experiencing that the way they match it with the reality.

Following the herd had led to no creativity, clarity and individual perspective considering every other individual has developed their perspective around achievements in life which needs to be shown. However, the reality is people are in deep crisis based on simple requirements in life such as food, clothing or a shelter hence as an individual, Simla realised that her bucket list before undergoing operations was so small and inconsequential as compare to the crisis in other people’s life. “What do these communities actually need as a pose to what we think we want.” Reflects the grand understanding Shimla acquired when she saw young children, women and individuals in tattered clothes teary eyed standing for food (DanFlyingSolo, 2016). The absence of sustainable development around the world has led to people experiencing so much sadness and gap in terms of reality and achieving their dreams. Empowering them is the main agenda. According to Taylor, D., & Shiel (2019), brain haemorrhage is a process of breathing in or around the brain and it can cause the individual immense pain and the causes can be suffering from high blood pressure, drug use, trauma and other such factors. The story of an individual who has experienced this pain understands the pain another individual experiences due to the lack of food, housing or clothes (DanFlyingSolo, 2016). Unemployment can be considered one of the main reasons due to which people around the world need volunteers and non-profit organisations to lift them. This shows that education is not only a tool for empowerment but also, it’s a luxury, those who cannot attend it suffers heavy (Lewi & Nichols, 2014). The concept of cerebral aneurysm can be defined as a life changing experience considering the artery junctions become weak (Wedro & Stöppler, 2019), that is Shimla experienced and it is clear that as an individual it has brought on a change in her to become more appreciative.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the significance must be given to the second chances that is received in life and everything in life must be appreciated, be it materialistic requirements or an individual’s perspective towards another. Mutual respect can be established only when one individual understands the crisis of another’s from which the concept of bucket list completely changes. Initially bucket list can be identified as something that an individual wants to do for themselves and their entertainment however it can be changed to the perspective of performing an action that will not only help another person but also give immense satisfaction and happiness to the individual performing it. Summarising the essay, it can be stated that Shimla has gone through a life changing experience leading to her receiving a second chance to help other people however most of the people do not get the same hence, they must appreciate what they have got.
