Selecting an Area of Developmental Health to Change

The purpose of this assignment is to assist you with getting closer to a healthy lifestyle. You will need to select ONE of the FOUR areas of developmental health (physical, emotional, cognitive/mental, social) discussed in class, and identify a specific behavior that you can change for the better in relation to that area.

The assignment will include two components: 1) One practical component, where you will actually change the behavior / change a habit, etc. for 10 days, and 2) Two (2) pages, the written reflection of your experience. Please also include one (1) page 10-day tracking sheet of your behavior change, noting the difficulties that arose, factors that made it more or less difficult that day, etc. (2-4 sentences per day).

In your assignment write-up, please answer the following:

1.Which area did you select? Why do you think you should make a change in that area of your life? What was the specific behavior that you chose to change?

2.What did you learn from the week of the behavioral change?

3.Is it possible for you to maintain this behavior on a continuous basis? Why? Why not? Was this easier to do than you anticipated? Harder? Any surprises along the way?

4.What about the remaining areas? How many of these do you maintain in your daily life? What would be a small change that you could make to get closer to a healthy lifestyle?
