Task

Part 1: Business Overview Your first task is writing the first section that includes:

1) Your business concept (what is the business about)

2) An organization chart including all staff positions

Part 2: Job Design and Recruitment

1) A full job description forone position on your organization chart including job Identification, Job Summary, Duties and Responsibilities, and Qualifications/Job Specifications.

NOTE: You will be building off of this for Exercise #2. The more complex the job, the richer your answers will be in this and Exercise #2, which may lead to a higher grade.

2) The recruitment strategies and methods your team plans to use to fill the position and why, including any employer branding strategies you might use.

Part 3 : Legal Framework

There is a variety of Federal and Provincial regulations that will impact how you manage your business.

We introduced these in class in the first few weeks of the semester including:

1) Canada Labour Code;

2) Employment Equity Act;

3) Charter of Rights and Freedoms and BC Human Rights Code;

4) Employment Standards and

5) WorkSafe BC.

For each of these, answerthe following:

1) Briefly tell me what is this legislation/regulation?

2) Why is it needed in society?

3) If it will impact your business, and if so how?

4) What are the consequencesof breakingthese laws

5) In your opinion, should this particular regulation/legislation be kept, changed or eliminated?

This part of your paper should be in five sections—each discussingone of the pieces of legislation/regulation above.

Each of the questions above should be its own sub-section heading for each topic.

Word count:2 500 — 3,000 words— excludingcover page and references. Notable of contentsrequired. A paper of 2,500 words is about 10 pages when usingthe general academicstandard of Double-spaced,12-point font. Each page is typically around 250 words on average, although this can vary if there are block quotes, inset graphics or anything else affecting the length.
