Overall Assignment Description A capstone assignment is a final project where students can demonstrate the skills and knowledge they have learned throughout the semester. This assignment is designed to encourage you and your team to think critically and to further develop the skills needed to use a relational inquiry approach in your nursing practice. The focus of this assignment is not to create strategies to solve problems, but rather to develop your skills of relational orientation and inquiry in order to recognize the bigger picture. In this assignment you will recognize, describe, and analyze the interpersonal, intrapersonal and contextual factors that influence a clientâs health. You will also analyze your own (individual) development of relational inquiry skills and personal strategies for building self-compassion. Students will be provided with a client scenario to frame their work for this assignment.Â
The capstone assignment is composed of three (3) parts, and includes both group and individual components. Students are required to complete all components for each of the three (3) parts of the capstone assignment. The overall assignment is worth a total of 50% of the final grade and will include:
 Group presentation grade (30%)Â
Individual facilitation and presentation grade (5%)Â
 Personal self-reflection grade (15%)Â
Assignment Components and Guidelines
Part 1: Group Presentation (30%)Â
The purpose of this presentation is to describe and analyze health inequities and how they affect your assigned clientâs health and well-being. The group is expected to provide a description of the influences on their assigned client and support this with evidence. You will also describe the connections between the social determinants of health and the clientâs health using hermeneutic and critical lenses. Finally, you will provide examples of supportive nursing care using relational inquiry. In order to facilitate learning for all class members, the group presentation must incorporate strategies to engage the class in a dynamic way. Examples of class engagement strategies may include interactive case studies, role play with debrief, polls, etc.

Each group will be assigned one of the following clients:
