Your Task Choose a health care or health sciences related issue which will be presented in two assignments this semester. For this Expository Essay, you will provide an in-depth look at the health topic which may be selected from the World Health Organization’s website.

You may not select the same topic you chose for the research project. In this essay, your thesis will state a definite point to be presented and argued. Develop your position logically and persuade the reader that your point of view is logical and valid.

Use at least one of the expository modes reviewed in class. Before you confirm your position on the topic, research a variety of sources in the Conestoga’s Library databases for background information. Use only academic sources (no newspapers, magazines, or news magazines such as Maclean’s).

Search for Canadian information where possible. For some topics, international viewpoints could be valuable, so review them as well. Your final essay and outline must include a minimum of seven outside sources.

Please note that only two of your sources can be webpages; the rest must be scholarly in nature and you must include at least three peer-reviewed journal articles. Evaluation This assignment is worth 20% of your final grade.

Your essay will be evaluated for the following characteristics: Main points identified Correct English usage; written in third person Use of APA style for all borrowed ideas or facts (in-text citations AND references page)

Effective paraphrasing; limited and appropriate quoting from original sources Readability, clarity of expression, and credible knowledge of the subject This essay should be between 1200-1500 words in correct Apa format.
