Creating a Student Success Handbook for Post-Secondary Education

Project Steps

The final project will allow you to extract the material you have learned in this course and put it into a “Student Success Handbook” that could be used to help students adjust to academic life and become successful in all aspects of their lives. This handbook will be handed in at the end of the course.

The handbooks will serve as guides to help students (either current or prospective) acclimate to post-secondary education, build financial literacy skills, communicate effectively with others, diffuse conflict, become leaders, utilize strategies to develop and hone time management skills, etc.

Project steps:

1.)Decide on the format for your handbook. There are several options on the format of your handbook. Some examples:

Textbook based on topics
Organized as a narrative story
A binder with information, tips, resources
Own creative design

2.)Each week decide what you want to focus on for the handbook. How do you want to present the material so that it is clear? What is important to emphasize? Why is the material you chose important? Which scenario/example will be used along with its discussion corresponding to each topic?

3.)After compiling and organizing all your material in a way that makes sense, that is easy to follow, and includes all the important information, complete the table of contents and put the final touches on the handbook.
