BUSN 3610 Managing Project Communications Stakeholders And Human Resources
Task
You have been hired recently as a project manager by Vivosys to rescue the company’s ailing software division. Its flagship product, EnterpriseSys, has been a disappointment, and the company wants you to recover the troubled project. Vivosys was founded in 2001 to develop state-of-the art hardware for the emerging global PC market. The company has become a leader in high-end hardware products. Several years ago, the company expanded its core business, attempting to apply its successful strategy to premium software. Vivosys’s flagship software product, EnterpriseSys, never met expectations.
As the new project manager for the EnterpriseSys project, you want to turn the failure around and make the company’s software division a success. Doing so will require leadership skills and management approval for your vision, but you are confident that it can be done. As you settle into your new position at Vivosys, one of your first tasks is getting to know your project team, and your management team. Perhaps unsurprisingly, you discover that each team member has very different needs from and expectations of you as project manager and leader. You will get some good practice applying a variety of leadership styles as you build relationships with your team.
