Business Environment Analysis
Listen to the Innovative Fuel podcast (link posted on Moodle). You are then to answer the following two points of emphasis:
1) Considering the various environmental forces impacting business, which environmental force(s) do you think your selected issue/topic relates to, and how?
2) What are the ethical implications involved in your selected issue/topic, and how can these ethical situations be resolved and/or avoided?
You will prepare a 5-6 page (double spaced, 12-pt font, APA style) analysis in light of the questions above. You will end your discussion with your views and recommendations about your topic. The purpose of this assignment is to keep you up-to-date of the happenings in the business environment in Canada and abroad, and have a critical eye on the various environmental influences surrounding these happenings.
B Corporation White Paper Summary
A brief critical review of a white paper published by B-Corp that talks about a shift in policy required to address various challenges faced by organisations and society today. The paper should also clearly identify various stakeholders that would be required to take action from a Canadian perspective. You will prepare a 5-6 page (double spaced, 12-pt font, APA style) for this assignment.
Ethics and CSR Project
In this project, you are going to review the CSR practices of a publicly traded company. More specifically, you will:
1) Briefly describe your company (the industry, the main product and/or services, the scope and size of operations).
2) Discuss the range of ethical/CSR issues and unique challenges that the company faces.
3) Identify the company’s stakeholders and their varying interests.
4) Discuss how the company goes about managing ethical issues, CSR activities, and stakeholder interests in practice. Please provide examples for each to illustrate your points.
5) Discuss the potential implications (positive or negative) of their approach. The purpose of this assignment is to demonstrate your understanding of the material that will be covered in the course. This can best be accomplished by making use of concrete, specific examples to illustrate your understanding of how to apply the concepts. You are expected to submit a 12-15-page (double spaced, 12-pt font, APA style) paper for this project.
PESTEL Team Project
You will work in teams of 3 (not more than 4) to conduct a PESTEL analysis of a business organization. You will then provide a written report as regards how each of the environmental forces (economic, social, technological, competitive, environmental, political, and global factors)
impacts your chosen organization, based on your observations and the information you will gather.
Your PESTEL analysis will basically examine some of the political, economic, social, technological, environmental, and legal factors affecting your chosen business organization. More specifically, make sure that for each environmental factor, you will examine your business’s current strengths, current challenges, future prospects, and future risks.
End your discussion with a holistic approach, and provide your own comments on the success, potential, and sustainability of your chosen organization in the industry in which it operates. The team will write a 15-18-page (double spaced, 12-pt font, APA style) report of its findings as well as make a presentation at the end of the semester.
