Research Project Video Instructions

Topic: Racism within the Canadian Healthcare System.

In this assignment, you are asked to continue to research the topic you chose for your Annotated Bibliography and produce a video presentation to share with your classmates via the Discussion Thread on D2L. The goal of your video is to inform the rest of the class about the topic you researched in a manner that is interesting and engaging.?In addition to this, you are expected to engage with your classmates on D2L through the discussion board.  

You are encouraged to be as creative as you wish with the presentation of the information.  

Visual aids should be used and include photos, images, charts, and so on.  

Formats could include PowerPoint, videos, sound, digital story, etc....? 

Video submissions are to be 5 minutes in length.

In addition to the 3 sources you found for your annotated bibliography, please find 3 or  more new sources for use in this assignment, which should Indigenous authors. These can include: blogs, videos, news articles, journal articles, books, elders knowledge, traditional teachings etc. Each need be cited properly according to APA standards.? 

Do not use Wikipedia. Anyone can edit it, so it is not classified as a credible resource.? 

Be critical of the content you research. This means know who is behind the sources you are using. Many sources contain Eurocentrism/discrimination - that is - the implicit interpretation of the world solely through a Euro-Canadian lens. Try to find Indigenous based sources if you can. 

Each student is expected to record their presentation and upload the link to the Research Project Video Presentations opens in new window Discussion Board on D2L. 

Students must create 3 questions for an ‘interactive component' of your presentation. These need to be posted when you upload the video. These questions should engage your peers to critically engage with the topic that you present. 

Students need to include information that addresses the:

What  

Where  

Why your program/field should know about this content. 

Ensure that you include an APA Reference Page in your Presentation. 

To receive the 5% participation grade, faculty will be providing time for students to engage in discussion with their peer’s submissions to the Research Project Video Presentation discussion board. 

Throughout Week 11 you are expected to watch 5 of your peer’s videos under the Discussion Board in D2L and answer all their ‘interactive component’ questions.  

The seminar for week 11 is self-directed and you are required to participate in the Class Discussion.

Faculty will look over the discussion board and will give the 5% based on your participation in the class discussion.
