Discuss The Pros And Cons Of a Two-Tiered Versus Universal Health Care System For All Canadians 500 Words.

How Would a Nurse Help a New Mom With The Decision To Breastfeed Her Infant, Or Not? What Points Should Be Considered?

In Canada, the universal health care system refers to the system which provides high quality medical facility to all the Canadian people in the country and along with this, as a part of the universal health care system, the federal government of the country offers equal health facilities to each of the people of the country regardless the economic condition of the people. On the other hand the two-tiered health care system in Canada refers to the health system that allows providing medical services to the people through both private and public health care facilities (Hua,  Chen, & Zhang, 2016). Although, it is believed that in the country there has a two-tier health care system; however Canada Health Act states that the country has one-tier system as it provides equal coverage to all the citizens of the country.

While discussing the pros and cons of the universal health care system in Canada, it can be stated that this system lowers the overall costs of the health care facilities in the country. As a part of this, the government of the country controls the price of medicines and medical related services through negotiation and regulation on the medical services. Another advantage of this universal health care system in the country is associated with the production of healthier work forces in the country and in many studies it is reported that application of universal health care system improves the accessibility of the health care services in the country. Moreover, the use of universal health care system helps in reduction of administrative costs of different health care facilities in the country (Martin et al., 2018).

While discussing about the cons of the universal health care system in the country it can be stated that application of universal health system in the country, the people have to pay different types of medical care costs for various chronic diseases such as diabetes and heart disease. Another important disadvantage of this universal health system is that the application of this system makes the people of the country less conscious about their health conditions. Moreover, this universal health system enhances the burden of costs for the government as they are responsible for providing subsidized rate health care facilities (Rosen, 2018).

Pros and Cons of Universal Health Care System

The benefit of the two-tiered health care system mainly helps to provide high quality services to the economically weak patients of the country. Therefore, it can be stated  that the application of this system enhances the life expectancy of the patients as they are able to access the health care services at an affordable rate. In this regard, it can be stated that health care services in a low rate can help more people take care about their health conditions as well. According to the study of Chowdhury and  Chowdhury  (2018), it is reported that the application of this new system improves the health conditions of the people in the country. As a part of disadvantages of this system it can be stated that this may restrict the health care facilities of the patients in terms of right to liberty, life, and security.

Conclusion

Therefore it can be stated that both the health care system in Canada are very crucial in terms of providing care to the people who are unable to access the high quality health care as they are not able to have proper health care services.

Human milk is very crucial for the health condition of the new born baby and also for the health of the mother. Human milk is termed as a crucial source of nutrition for the new born child. Therefore, the nurses or the health care professional has crucial role in  influencing the decisions of a mother regarding the process of breast feeding (Lewis et al., 2017). In this section, the role of the nurses in the decision making process is discussed in a brief manner.

According to the study of Eriksen et al. (2018), it is reported that  breast milk endorses growth of the new born's immune system and  along with this also helps to meet the nutritional requirements of an infant approximately up to the  six months  age of the infants. After that, corresponding foods and fluids are generally included to the diet of the children. In this regard it can be stated that the nurse is a crucial person for taking decisions regarding the breast feeding of the new born. A nurse can help the mother in taking decisions regarding the breast feeding process as being a health care professional a nurse is quite aware of the benefits of breast feeding in case of a new born child. In this regard, it can be stated that the nurse may aware the mother about the high nutritional values of the breast milk and the nurse should help the mother to take decision about breast feeding in a positive way (de Almeida et al., 2015). According to  the study of  Loiselle et al. (2016), it is reported that the process of breast feeding is not only crucial for the health of the new born child but  it is equally crucial for the health conditions of the mothers as well. In this regard it can be stated that breast feeding is associated with the reduction of various health related problem among the mothers. In the study of  Hartmann and Lindor  (2016), it is observed that risks of breast cancer and ovarian cancers are high among those mothers who are not engaged in the process of breast feeding. Thus the nurse should influence the mother to breast feed their children as it will also help them to prevent themselves from various other diseases. Along with this, the nurses should enhance the communications with the new mothers and should discuss about those problems of poor breast feeding practices. The nurses also should engage themselves in the teaching processes so that the mothers can understand the importance of the breast feeding ( Wood, 2018).

Conclusion

Therefore, it can be concluded that the nurses have crucial role in influencing the mothers in breast feeding by enhancing the knowledge of the mothers regarding the importance of the breast feeding and mothers should also be provided knowledge regarding the facts of their own health which can be affected by poor breast feeding practices.
