The text Cultural aspects of time and ageing by Cecil G. Helman is a very attractive text that shares the idea of identifying the sociological ideas and also highlighting the important factors that needs to be developed for analyzing the notion of culture regarding certain identities and various theories; deducing the modes of time and aging. The author rightly points out- "At different points in the calendar, time stress may affect different groups of individuals: students at examination time, accountants at the end of that tax year, businessmen struggling to meet a deadline, motorists trapped in a traffic jam during the morning rush hour." (Helman, 2005) The various modes of identity of time that has allowed culture to progress through the ages has been analyzed. The Author has briefly mentioned the values that has been highlighted in the research where he beautifully categorizes the significance of cultural aspects of a society and how the flow of time has manipulated the notion of the imposition of the culture. This has highly imposed the social understanding of the human beings so that the ideas and the modes of nationwide timing is a very important aspect that the author has highlighted as well.
The cultural aspects of time and research has deeply affected the human longevity. On the idea of the human longevity, the author remarks, that- If the current research on extending longevity is successful, then this proportion may well increase even further. Given the variability in cultural notions of time and ageing, this raises a number of important questions." (Helman, 2005) The aims of the research has highly impacted on the identification of the theories that needs to be studied and analyzed so that the physical phenomena of the human body can be identified as it has left a deep impact on the cellular and the molecular level. The ethical and the social implications has been highlighted that has reflected on the broader aspect of the society as well as the economic and the cultural concepts as well. The link between the cultural aspects of aging and the cultural aspects of time has been done, which denounces the impact of time over culture and vice versa. The link between the both the notions has been set by analyzing the ideas of the traditional societies that used to be functional in the society and by critically analyzing the course of history, the nature and the tendencies of the people who used to live societies. It has been projected by reflecting on the progression of the societies that has taken place due to the progression of time. Therefore, we can easily identify the notion of the author that he has mentioned in the research work. Thus iit can be concluded that the understanding of the nature of time, both culture and aging is dependent that has eventually lead to the development of the society. The author rightfully mentions.- “Cultural concepts of ageing are closely related to cultural concepts of time and many different concepts of time have been described. " (Helman, 2005)
