Emerging Technologies and Trends: Predicting the Future with Artificial Intelligence and Singularity

Key Questions to Consider

As we near the end of the course you will have been introduced to many different emerging technologies and trends occurring around the world, which leads to an invitation to make your own future predictive model on the direction the world is headed when considering the focal of human endeavor: Artificial Intelligence and Singularity. This topic incorporates all modules in this course, from ethics to whistleblowing, robotics to healthcare, and cyber issues to nanotechnology. Therefore, you are asked to approach this assignment from a holistic approach considering all course content and subject areas. To provide some focus, you are asked to consider the following questions in this assignment: How should humans treat artificial intelligence and the inevitable singularity? What ethical or moral rights will it/they have? If artifical intelligence is able to pass the Turing test (distinguish between human and AI), then do ethical models, rights, etc. enjoyed by humans subsequently apply to AI as well? What purpose or function will AI serve in society, or in other areas where will it be employed? What will the advantages and consequences of this? Considering everything you have learned in this course and your previous knowledge, how do you predict the world will look in 2050?
