You work for the British Columbia Automobile Association (BCAA), which was founded in 1906 when car enthusiasts gathered together and assisted each other to repair their vehicles. Since then BCAA has become a member driven organization that provides benefits to the members such as roadside assistance, trip planning, insurance for a car, house or health travel coverage, travel agents to assist with vacations, and recently the organization brought in a partnership with Evo car sharing. In addition, there are partnership agreements with over 100,000 organizations worldwide. BCAA is proud to say that it provides services to one in three households across B.C.
Currently BCAA’s mission is to keep everyone safe in the community. To do this they have created several safety programs and deliver these to school aged children, such as: School Zone Safety, BCAA Play Here and Child Passenger Safety. In addition, the staff participate in several supportive programs and fundraisers for the United Way throughout the year. Part of BCAA’s 2019/2020 goals are to continue strengthening their three core strategies to increase BCAA’s relevance, deliver amazing Member experiences and strengthen BCAA’s foundation. To do this the organization is exploring ways to broaden the appeal to members instore, through telephone service or online, seeking out ways to provide better insurance protection and bringing in more mobility solutions. In your role as the Community Relations Coordinator for BCAA Lower Mainland region, you work out of BCAA’s head office, which is located at 4567 Canada Way, Burnaby, B.C. You have been asked by the Community Relations Director to identify a local charity, beyond the charities that BCAA already works with on a regular basis. The Lower Mainland BCAA
wants to start a “Holiday Care” program, which will help put into action aspects of the 2019/2020 goals.
Therefore, working with past criteria for charity partners, which were improving community services, making the community safer, and supporting kids in the community with accessibility to positive play, your task is to identify three potential choices for a new campaign. Your team is working to obtain approval of which charity partner to go forward with and needs a decision by November 25, in order to put into action a plan for the December holiday season. In order to be efficient in the process you have been asked to rank your top three choices, beginning with the organization that you feel has the closest alignment to BCAA and the charity goals. This deadline will give your team enough time if you need to re-evaluate and seek out other options. You will provide the team recommendation to Jiangxuan Choing, Director of Community Relations. He has asked you to outline not only the names of your top three recommendations, but also describe the charities needs and relative merit of aligning your company with their cause.
