Task
1. Go to public place. Observe the interaction between two people whom you can see but not hear. In a short memo to you instructor, describe the settings, the participants, the interaction and the non-verbal behaviors. Analyze their non-verbal communication and present two possible interpretation of these behavior. Be sure to justify your interpretation from the observation.
2. Use the recording function on a smartphone or hire/use a traditional video camera for this activity: Working by yourself or with a partner, record (at least ten minutes) of yourself talking, walking, sitting, gesturing. If you are working with a partner, return the favor. If this is difficult, perhaps you can get access to some home movie video footage of yourself. Observe yourself on screen: is the sound and the image what you expected? If not, why not? Might your observations cause you to change the way you behave? If so, why? If not, why not?
3. Identifying the meanings behind Non-verbal Behavior: Find three to five pictures of people with different facial expressions (happiness, sadness, anger, etc.) or gestures. Ask some group of people or individual (at least three to four from different countries) to identify the emotions or meanings of the gestures the pictures convey. In a short memo to your instructor, compare the different emotions in different countries.
1. Using a Microsoft Word document, complete the above assignment procedure. (You can submit all the questions in one document or you can separate it into three documents)
2. Number of Words: Should not exceed 900 words (for each answer)
3. Be sure to check for grammar and spelling errors.
4. When you are ready to submit the assignment click on the Add submission button at the bottom of this screen.
5. Either drag and drop your file to the space as indicated or click on the Add... option and select the file you wish to submit. When you are ready click on Save changes.
