Background: Your personal code of ethics is a personal expression of your ethical pledge and can be used to guide you through the decision-making process. When a situation arises and a tough choice has to be made, your personal code of ethics is what you will use to help you come to a final decision. You may want to use the same heading style as for your resume for a unified approach to your professional documents. Introductory Paragraph: Begin with a concise introductory paragraph. Your introductory paragraph should include your core values and relevant background. Because this is your personal code of ethics, use first person in your writing. Ethical Terms or Statements (4 or 5) with Definitions: Use four or five short sections that are themed by a term or statement that represents an ethical behaviour or concept that you are committed to.
