Jigar Patel: A Selfless Community Leader and Politician

Jigar Patel's Involvement in Public Relations and Politics

The person I have chosen for the assignment is Jigar Patel.he is actively involved in public relations he is former president of Gujrati counselling society of Saskatchewan and was vice president in 2016.he was member of parliament candidate in regina levan consistency from NDP. Currently he is an active politician with conservative party of Canada.He is a small business owner and take great pride in growing the economy and increasing employment in Regina.he is also active in the community,organization blood donation camps and regular volunteer with regina food bank.I chose him for the assignment because he is a actively involved in public relations and he has helping nature towards people and he is very good person by heart.I met him before 3 years and know him personally.there are many thing i want to learn from him but the most important thing i want to learn from him selflessness he always believe in giving something to people and is always helpful to people.his main ideology is to help people in best possible way and he doesn't want anything in return.I have already worked for him as a active volunteer in canvassing for the ndp political party.he is in political social work and work at two different level he works within the community Gujarati counselling society of Regina where he helps people whom are new in canada and don't know the process where to start a new life be it students or families.so his organization provides with and plan for people like after their arrival he help them with opening bank accounts,getting jobs and it's a nonprofit organization.he is a mechanical engineer by training.

Jigar's work does not involve much writing, moreover he is involved in verbal communication with the people.Jigar also told me that “I'm a public person, so I'd like to sit down with the easiest bold person. I'd like to get some knowledge from them. I want to understand people so Sometimes I go to old age homes also to talk with people to understand their feelings.So better than writing more, I'd like to be involved in problem solving or involved in the feeling of a person in different kinds of works”.In his work cross-culture is very important because not only he works for one community he is involved in many communities he is also involved with philippines,russian,somali and first nations community in regina.His work involves a lot of events like more than 20 events within a year.he plans the events and is organizer of many events for the latest upcoming event he told me was the 25 december 2021 christmas event which is he planning and he has organized everything including sound,food and the banquet hall everything is booked the event is for 250 people following the new covid-19 guidelines.he also organises the Navratri which is festival of Hindu people which involves 3 days of free food,celebration and around 3000 people are involved in the event every year.since “i was 19,i have been working on political campaigns.

i enjoy organizing supporters,volunteers,big function” .Jigar's strength is his work ethic.he thinks that you are not supposed to say anything wrong to anyone you need to be positive at the time.and you should not have ego in yourself. His work high involves media relations he also told me that any person working for the community likes to get in touch with media more often.because it is the best possible way to reach to the maximum number of people and for the past 10 year he is an active politician so he is always in touch of media and doing interviews with them.he has not counseled anyone in his organization for media interview but as he is a member of parliament he shared few tips which he learned from his organization was,be confident,you should me loud and clear while you are talking to media,you should never be afraid to talk with media,and maintain eye contact and always know your audience and always tell the truth.and he also told that nowadays social media plays a very important role after this covid-19 pandemic.he thinks that it is the best way to reach the people he said that “If you want to say something if you want to make any event or if you want to do something like example I had cancer. I recently had surgery for cancer of my tongue so I'm having this image problem for speaking all so it cannot speak. One world properly, because I have lost 35% of my tongue . But on the other side the cancer hospital treated me very well. Now I wanted to send this message to people that don't go to all other countries for your cancer operation or don't go from Regina to Toronto. You have a good hospital. We have a good doctor. If I want to convey this message to people, social media is the best platform to let people know and through Facebook, WhatsApp and Twitter. I can convey this message to a number of people without barriers of age,culture and geography.
