HRM782 Recruitment and Selection Techniques

In this assignment, you will describe the direct impact of a social/economic factor on a company's humanresources recruitment and selection process.

Complete the following tasks in the order that they appear:

 

1. Find a newspaper or magazinearticle (e.g. Globe and Mail, Macleans, etc.) that describes how a current social/economic factor such as those described in Chapter 1 - Social/Economic Factors Affecting Recruitment (threats and opportunities in the external environment) is affecting a local store or company (e.g. Walmart, Safeway), or a specific industry sector (e.g. Automotive, Construction, Agriculture).

 

2. Compose a one-page document wherein you clearly describe one way that the social/economic factor identified in the article could affect the local store, company, or industry's human resources recruitment and selection process.

 

3. At the end of the document, provide the:

 

a) title of the article,

 

b) source of the article (i.e, paper or magazine),

 

c) date of publication, and d) author's name.

 

You will be graded on the following:

 

. How well the newspaper or magazine article describes the impact of a particular social/economic factor on a local store, company, or industry.

 

. How clearly and effectively you describe one way in which the social/economic factor could affect the local store, company, or industry's human resources’ recruitment and selection process.

 

. How well you cite the source (e.g. title, date of publication, author's name).
