Answered

Read This Before Starting

Read This Before Starting:

1.Read the entire assignment through first and follow the instructions carefully.

2.Save frequently for protection in case of computer or electrical problems.

3.Proofread and preview your work carefully before submitting your assignment document.

Ensure that your document is an original creation and is your own work. This is an individual assignment and although seeking help is advised when needed, this assignment is to be completed on your own and not as a group effort.

Set Up:

Open Excel and create a new, blank workbook.
Save the file under the name Excel Assignment 1 – Your Name (use your actual name).
Save your work regularly during the assignment.

Instructions:

1 ) In Sheet 1, enter your full name in cell A1. In cell A2, enter the current date and format it in the Short Date format.

2) Recreate the following table, starting by typing the words “Park Attendance” in cell A4 (as shown below).

3) Fill in values for the Picnic Area, Water Park and Carnival for every month. You may add any numbers you want to reflect the number of people who attended each park area.

4) Fill in a Monthly Attendance Goal value. Try to keep this number roughly similar the number range you used for the rest of the table. For example, if the values in your table range between 540 – 6789, then choose a monthly attendance goal value of somewhere in that range.

5) Merge and centre cells A4 to E4.

6) Apply the following formatting to the table. You may apply the changes in any way that you like as long as they are visible.
Do not make any changes to cell A4.
a. Borders around cells (any style of border is acceptable). (1 mark)
b. Bolding of text.
c. Fill colour of cells.
d. Text colour of cells.
e. Centering of text within cells.

7) Insert an appropriate function in the Monthly Total column that will calculate the monthly totals for each month and copy down the rest of the column.

8) Enter an appropriate function for the Total row that will show the park attendance totals for each section of the park (i.e. the totals for Picnic Area, Water Park, Carnival) and the overall total attendance for the entire park.

9) Pick a location either next to the table or below it, and enter the text:

Average Water Park Attendance Enter an appropriate function in the cell next to it that will show the average attendance number for the Water Park section of the park for the year.

10) Create a new column to the right of the Monthly Total column, and label it the following:

% of Monthly Goal Then create an appropriate formula that will calculate what January’s total attendance numbers are as a percentage of the park’s Monthly Attendance Goal. Copy the formula down the rest of the column. Be sure to use relative and absolute cell references where necessary.

11) Create a new column below the Total row, and label it the following:

% of Total Attendance Then create an appropriate formula that will calculate the Picnic Area’s total attendance as a percentage of the park’s Monthly Total. Then copy the formula for the Water Park and Carnival total attendance. Be sure to use relative and absolute cell references where necessary.

12) Format all appropriate values in the table to the Comma style with no decimal places.

13) Format all percentage values to the Percentage style with 2 decimal places.

14) Format any dates to the Short Date number style.

15) Create a Conditional Formatting rule in the Monthly Total column that will highlight the four least (ie. lowest) attendance months with a Light Red Fill with Dark Red Text.

16) Rename the Excel tab to Monthly Visits.

17) Adjust any column width or row heights so that all information displays properly in the table.
