Research Paper - General Instructions You will be required to write a research paper on any social issue. (5 pages typed -12 font; double-spaced and with standard margins). The point of the term paper is to learn how to organize, research, analyze and formulate a well written and documented analysis about social phenomenon Sources & References You should have a minimum of 5 references. A really good way to do research yourself (whether you are in Regina, or anywhere else in the province) is to use the University of Regina library web site. From there you can search for what books the U of R has in the library. As far as style, you can follow the University of Regina style sheet in writing your paper; I will accept either APA or MLA style. I will expect spelling, punctuation, and other elements of style to be correct. Make sure that you cite all references properly. Use the Brief Penguin Handbook, the University of Regina Style sheet or another up-to-date style manual to find out about the form citations should take. GRADING EVALUATION FOR RESEARCH PAPER The break down of grading is in three parts. Content is of 15 : A well written introduction 1. Brief overview of topic/issue. 2. Inclusion of a stat, case, study finding, or headline, etc. to illustrate issue, contextualize subsequent analysis and draw reader in to topic. 3. Clear thesis statement (somewhere in intro). 4.
