Be creative within an academic framework! Use software of your choice ensuring that you are able to submit a well presented pdf of your document via MyClass. Feel free to be creative and provide supplementary material as relevant (e.g. a video or podcast made by you and uploaded with your pdf). Basically, ensure the guidelines are met and have some fun creatively crafting the assignment. The purpose of the assignment is to actively engage with and explore a local area within a world region. Choose a significant location within a world region by narrowing your focus to a specific country, then a specific state or province / small region. The chosen area must include three or four sites of social, cultural, political, economic, historical and/or environmental significance. The ‘Blog Post’ will discuss the chosen area drawing from literature, while creatively enticing others to explore as tourists. The post must provide the reader with a clear sense of what to expect in the particular region. This includes some significant background details establishing the regional context. The post must include details on three sites of social, cultural, political, economic, historical and/or environmental significance. Each site will be discussed in a way that clearly presents its value to the region and characteristics of interest to tourists. Incorporate media, including imagery (e.g. photographs, maps, historical images) and videos (e.g. virtual tours, short tourism documentaries, news videos). The Blog will be written in short essay format and submitted as a pdf. Format the blog post in an appealing manner, including:

1. A clear introduction, with a strong aim and thesis, that introduces the blog focus and direction. Incorporate literature to demonstrate the significance of your tourism area and to introduce key themes.

2. A discussion of the regional context (i.e. describe the region), situating your chosen area within the larger region and country.

 3. A discussion of 3 or 4 tourist attractions / sites.

 4. Clear succinct headings to structure the blog.

5. Figures labelled appropriately with a label, number, caption, and citation – e.g. Figure 1: Blah blah blah (Author, Date, pg#). Ensure that all figures are referred to directly in-text and included them within the body of the blog. 1. Figures must include relevant imagery, including photographs. Students may use their own photos as relevant. Figures can include tables or graphs.

 6. Media content should be incorporated to provide imagery of your region and tourist sites. Media should include virtual tours and/or other relevant videos and imagery. Other forms may also be included.

 7. Feel free to incorporate quotations from tourists who have visited your sites, local people, government, or organizations, etc. citing appropriately.

 8. A clear conclusion that summarizes key points and ties back to the introduction, including the aim and thesis statement, and leaves the reader wanting more.
