PSYC 6233 Assessment in Counselling

Each student will critically compare and contrast two of the four counselling theories that we have covered in this class.   

Theory 1   Biopsychosocial    

Theory 2   Adlerian

Theory 3   Cognitive-Behavioural               

 Theory 4  Solution-Focused    

The focus of the paper needs to be on counselling skills and interventions of a good theory. Please use these elements to form the major APA headings in your paper. Subheadings should also be included. Use the provided rubric to guide the outline of the paper.

Length:  

Your Theoretical Comparison should be between 10 - 12 double-spaced pages excluding title page and reference pages. The course instructor will not read theoretical content after page 12. This paper does not require an abstract, a table of contents, or an appendix.

You are welcome to draw from the course reading materials to help guide you with this assignment. However, you must have at least five (5) additional current (last ten years), peer- reviewed resources (from outside the course) for each of the theories of counselling chosen to ensure adequate coverage of the topic (at least ten (10) additional, recent, peer-reviewed sources). Remember to cite original sources unless they are not accessible in the Yorkville library.
