Credits
In Universities or colleges, you receive credit hours or credits based on the number of contact hours you have completed. Contact hour is any lecture time for any course subject, offered by your professor. For example; if your professor provides 1 hour lecture on English twice a week, the contact hour for that week is 2. So, in 6 months, he offers 48 contact hours. Now, a semester credit hour maybe 1 for every 6 contact hours. So, the total credit hours for the course in that semester would be 48/6 which equals to 8 credits. Now you may have attended on 12 of his lectures, so the credit you obtain is 2.
Normally credit hours per course subject ranges between 12-15 per semester. Our GPA calculator calculated the accurate GPA once you enter the credits of each subject in your course.
Weight
Different classes (Hons, Regular and Advanced) have different weights.
The grades are marked according to the standard scale for regular classes where A grade denotes 4, B grade denotes 3 and C grade denotes 2.
The grades are increased by 1/2 for each grade in the standard scale for Honors classes. For colleges, the grades are increased by 1 point. Once you enter the weight of the batch of the class, the GPA calculator will adjust and update the GPA.
Your weighted classes always get extra points on the GPA ladder board. Unweighted classes do not have those extra points. A equals 4.50 for Honors classes and 5 for Advanced placements/colleges. Our GPA Calculator also does the same.
