Learning Outcomes

The assignment is aimed at assessing students’ knowledge regarding the five learning outcomes of the module as highlighted below:

1. Critically analyse the concept of sustainability and its theoretical development.

2. Critically examine how sustainability is managed by a range of organisations and its value and appropriateness to a range of new scenarios.

3. Critically analyse and evaluate how the process of sustainability is applied within a range of organisations.

4. Critically evaluate the relationship between sustainability challenges, sustainability theory and sustainability practice.

5. Apply a reflective, ethical and professional approach to the application of sustainability strategy, the development of principles and implementation.

The following tasks must be completed in the group presentation. Your findings from the audit should be presented in a 20-minute PowerPoint presentation, followed by tutor questioning for a further ten minutes, at a date to be agreed with the module tutor. Your presentation should be structured as follows:

Section 1:

Introduction to provide a brief overview of your organisation and the aims and objectives of your audit.

Section 2:

Critical examination of how sustainability is managed and valued by your chosen organisation. You should also provide examples from other organisations as comparisons.

Critical analysis and evaluation of one area of sustainability in your chosen organisation. For example, choose one area of sustainability such as the organisation’s approach to supply chain management, social sustainability or environmental sustainability.

Section 4:

Critical evaluation of the operational challenges of implementing sustainability in practice in your chosen organisation.

Section 5:

Conclusion and Recommendations for your organisation, including reflection on the organisation’s ethical and professional approach.

Guidelines:

You must underpin your analysis and evaluation of the key issues with appropriate and wide ranging academic research and ensure this is referenced using the AU Harvard system.
