Tabitha owns a shop selling vintage clothes and shoes.  She placed an advertisement in the free advert section of a local newspaper: ‘Unique opportunity to own a vintage pair of shoes for £350cash. Offer valid for one day only – tomorrow (Sunday)’.

On Sunday, Louise walked into the shop and asked Tabitha if she would take a cheque for £300 for the vintage shoes; however Tabitha refused to accept the cheque and told her that she could not have the shoes.

Later the same day Tabitha sold the shoes to Kay.

Michelangelo is very excited about this invention. He has yet to hear of anyone else who has designed such a product and thinks this can help his business expand into the US.

Advise Michelangelo on what grounds a patent is granted and the advantages and disadvantages of obtaining a patent.
