What am I required to do in this assignment?

Produce an E-Portfolio Blog on a chosen organisation in the hospitality or tourism sector.

Once you have decided on  your organisation, you must then produce an E.Portfolio with the following included:

• Identify the position of the organisation in the tourism value chain and explain its role within the chain
• Describe the organisation’s product portfolio and the major market in which it operates
• Identify the organisation’s main competitors and explain the current challenges to improve quality services and maintain customer loyalty.

Guidance

• Whilst you are not writing an essay, the E.Portfolio (Blog) must still be to a professional standard
• An E.Portfolio (Blog)  requires you to develop the ability to communicate in a succinct and effective manner
• Ensure that you draw on a wide range of sources; do not solely rely on the organisation website to search for information
• Apply the university guidelines for referencing i.e. use Harvard Referencing System, and include a bibliography

• Demonstrate the ability to identify, present and explain key information on an organisation in the tourism and hospitality industry
• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding about the interrelationships in the tourism and hospitality industry

How do I produce high quality work that merits a good grade?

There are many factors, which can be found in the ‘Marks and Feedback’ section, but the key points are:

• Using a wide range of credible sources
• Demonstrating a detailed knowledge of your organisation and leader
• Embracing the style of an E.Portfolio, including writing style being succinct
• Demonstrating a firm grasp of industry terminology
• A clear structure and theme throughout

How does this assignment relate to what we are doing in scheduled sessions?

This is followed by focusing on a different sector of the tourism and hospitality industry each session. Each session is crucial in developing an understanding of the tourism and hospitality industry and its interrelationships. All sessions are equally relevant to form the vital in-depth understanding of how the different sectors work together.
