What am I required to do in this assignment?
You are required to produce a group poster displaying one aspect of the global operations of an airline. Your group is to choose among a selection of activities, and illustrate the links between the different tasks required for this global operational activity to take place (50% of the mark, attributed to the group).
Your group should be between 3 and 5 students max. You can choose your group members. Please let your lecturer know of your group members before week 3.
You are to choose between one of the following global operational activities: fleet planning, route development, global cargo transport, code-sharing flights, alliance membership, or airline marketing and distribution.
You will then be required to present your contribution to the Group Poster, individually.
Each member of the group will focus on one stage of the operational activity.
Each member should explain what his/her stage of the operations consist in, its significance in the global operations of the airline, and emphasize the links between his/her tasks and other tasks in the operations presented by other members of the group.
Each group member will have 7 mn to present and explain his or her task in the global operations process (50% of the mark, attributed to the individual presenter)
The poster as such will be submitted on BREO and marked for the whole group (50% of the mark).
The Poster will be printed in Poster format at the Print-Shop (36 inches x 48 inches). The University will cover the costs of Printing.
You are required to inform the instructor before week 3 of which airline you wish to study, and which aspect of the global operations you are going to study among the list provided. Please inform the lecturer of your group members before week 3.
For instance, you may want to choose a global international carrier, and focus on fleet planning, explaining the different phases involved in choosing a new aircraft type for the airline, and the strategic rationale for this choice.
Another example would be to choose an international low-cost carrier, and focus on route development, explaining the different phases involved in opening a new route, and the strategic rationale for this choice.
