LO1: Identify, and reflect on, personal development actions to achieve study and career ambitions
Prepare a Personal Development Portfolio which acknowledges the importance of academic and professional skills for your career in business and management. The portfolio should be presented in report format. You must identify and reflect on your approach to your personal learning and development, and the transferrable skills you have already developed, or seek to develop during your academic studies, personal life and the workplace. Emphasis should be placed on the skills discussed during lectures. Your portfolio should include the following;
a) How the development of academic and professional skills will help advance your career in Business Management (20 Marks)
b) What your approach is to personal learning? (20 Marks)
i) How has it changed?
ii)What measures you plan to take when implementing further changes?
c) The skills you have already developed (20 Marks)
i) How will these skills transfer to the work environment? You should provide examples where possible
a) A personal development and action plan that identifies weaknesses that you will then utilise to develop your skills over the next twelve months (5 Marks)
b) A copy of your up-to-date CV (5 Marks)
Additional Submission Instructions:
Your report must be submitted through Turnitin. Assessments received after this date will be subject to grading according to the late submission details published in the Module Guide.
Weeks 14 & 15 in the Module Calendar are allocated as Formative assessment and Feedback sessions. These sessions are held on a 121 basis and must be booked through the MOODLE page for the module. The Tutors reserve the right to use these sessions as a mechanism to interview the student on the standards and practice evidenced in their submissions. In line with the published Academic Misconduct procedures, additional interviews can be requested with a student to confirm the validity of their work. You must attend at least one session to fulfil the final assessment requirements.
Level HE4 - It is expected that the Reference List will contain between five and ten sources. As a MINIMUM the Reference List should include one refereed academic journal and three academic books
Students will expertly prepare a Personal Development Portfolio in the style of a report, whilst demonstrating excellent knowledge/ understanding of the importance of developing academic and professional skills to transfer to a successful career in business management. There will be coherently articulated discussion of skills development resulting in clear and logical conclusions, meticulous attention to detail in the PDP, action plan and CV, including an excellent analysis on personal reflection using appropriate theoretical models. An effective presentational style will be used with a skilful inclusion of figures, tables, plates, and extensive research demonstrating use of a wide range of current secondary research sources will be evident. Academic style and referencing will be excellent.
Students will proficiently prepare a Personal Development Portfolio in the style of a report, whilst demonstrating good knowledge/ understanding of the importance of developing academic and professional skills to transfer to a successful career in business management. There will be an articulated discussion of skills development resulting in clear and logical conclusions, attention to detail in the PDP, action plan and CV, including coherent analysis on personal reflection using appropriate theoretical models. A good presentational style will be used with relevant inclusion of figures, tables, plates, and research demonstrating use of a range of current secondary research sources will be evident. Academic style and referencing will be good.
Students will prepare a Personal Development Portfolio in the style of a report, whilst demonstrating adequate knowledge/ understanding of the importance of developing academic and professional skills to transfer to a successful career in business management. There will be a discussion of skills development resulting in clear and logical conclusions, acceptable inclusion of a PDP, action plan and CV, including personal reflection using theoretical models. An acceptable presentational style will be used and research will be evident. Academic style and referencing will be fair.
