Prepare a 15-minute presentation on the role of information and data within an Industry or Professional Sector related to your course:
This should cover the following tasks:
1. State what type of data is collected and used by the organisation and if this is Big Data, and if this is primary or secondary data
2. Describe orthodox market research and how this is different from Big Data
3. Explain how information is captured and stored with key references to types of databases and management information systems
4. Describe the impact of technological development on the role and use of data in the business decision making process within your chosen sector
5. Set out how information and data is used within the day to operations of organisations within that sector and what is its strategic importance to the organisation within its sector
6. Set out outline for research into improving data capture and use in a sector/organisation

Your work will be assessed on the extent to which it demonstrates your achievement of the stated learning outcomes for this assignment (see above) and against other key criteria, as defined in the University’s institutional grading descriptors. A proportion of your marks will also depend upon your use of academic referencing conventions. This assignment will be marked according to the grading descriptors for Level 4
This being a group presentation you will be receiving a mark for the performance of the group (this mostly relates to the structure and the content of your presentation).
Each member of the group will be questioned on the section of the presentation they have given. Individual marks will be adjusted based upon whether their individual contribution of the knowledge and understanding of their task and its link to whole project is appropriate for this level of study.
